We're a Certified Social Enterprise
What is a certified social enterprise?
To us, it's more than just words
To be a certified social enterprise, you must return a minimum of 50% of profits to purpose.
At their heart, a social enterprise is a business for good – an organisation that has a business model to raise income and direct the profits of that income to it’s primary social, economic or environmental goal that makes a positive impact on the world; rather than maximising or prioritising profit. Although social enterprises do contribute significantly to the economy with an estimated 21.3 billion dollars annually.
Social Enterprises can be businesses or not-for-profits. The key thing is the business model that drives revenue and where those profits go. That’s what differentiates them.
Social Traders offers certification of social enterprise status using a comprehensive checklist to verify that the majority of the organisation’s efforts and resources are invested into the social purpose.
